Starting School in September 2026

WHAT OUR PARENTS SAY ABOUT OUR SCHOOL...

"Our little school is amazing, I love how it feels like a family where the teachers and parents genuinely care about every child. There's such a strong sense of belonging – it’s more than just a school."

   -Ruby Class parent 2025

"As parents we couldn’t be happier with the school. The personalised attention and caring environment truly makes a difference. Our children are thriving academically  and socially, and we feel confident they are in a place that nurtures their individual growth. The warmth and dedication of the staff makes the school feel like a second home. We highly recommend it to any parents looking for a supportive and inspiring educational community."

Stay and Pla

If you are considering applying for a place at our school for next September, or would simply like the opportunity to visit and get to know us, we would be delighted to welcome you to our Stay and Play sessions.

These sessions are free of charge and open to parents/carers and their pre-school children.

Please see the information and dates below. If you would like to book a place or find out more, just get in touch—we’d love to hear from you.

We will also be running additional sessions during the Spring and Summer Terms. You are very welcome to attend as many as you wish, and you do not need to be planning to join our school to come along.

Transition morning 2- Will be held in June or July: Date for 2026 TBC

This is an opportunity for the children to explore their new classroom and school environment independently alongside the current EYFS children who will act as super role models.

 School ready?

We believe that school readiness is NOT just about academics!
We have been lucky enough to see the process of starting school from multiple angles...we've both been the parent and the Reception Teacher and Mrs Death has been the Nursery Teacher too!  Each role has it's own unique challenges, but we think it's really important that we all have a shared ideal of what "school ready" looks like!
We are committed to being ready to support your little people and to ensure Ruby Class is the best possible place for them to be to make the next steps on their learning journey.

School ready...

How can you help prepare your child for school?

  • Encourage your child to be as independent as possible even if it takes far longer for them to get ready.
  • Establish sensible bedtime routines which get your child ready for sleep, eg. sharing a bedtime story.
  • Allowing time on a morning to make sure your child arrives promptly and is ready to learn.
  • Never threaten them with school!  Be positive.  Support us by reinforcing the importance of regular attendance.

What can I do with my child before they start school?

  • Give your child as many varied experiences as possible: drawing, painting, cooking, singing, making models, playing games, jigsaws, etc.
  • Get them used to: pencils, crayons, felt pens, chalks, paints, play dough, scissors.
  • Share stories, books and rhymes. Read to them.
  • Count everything and share things out.
  • Use lots of everyday counting opportunities —cup, plate, knife, fork and spoon for each person
  • Talk to them all of the time.
  • Name familiar things and discuss what they see around them and what things are for.
  • Talk about what you see when you are out and about.
  • Watch people work and discuss what they are doing
