VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations!

What a glorious afternoon we had marking this very important occasion last Friday (9th May). The sun was shining and thanks to your generosity there was much tea and cake to be enjoyed! After the lighting of our spectacular beacon, it was wonderful to take a moment as a community at the beginning of our afternoon to think about VE Day and to show our respect and empathy for all those who fought and contributed to the war effort, and to be thankful for the many opportunities we have today as a result. Sapphire Class read beautifully and confidently. Ruby Class were fantastic as they zoomed around as our own ‘Ruby Red Arrows!’ There was a lovely atmosphere and a real sense of unity and community throughout the afternoon which seemed to be enjoyed by all. There were many activities to enjoy including flag making, VE Day colouring, tin can alley, tug-of-war, egg and spoon, pond dipping and den building. Plus there was our VE Day gallery to visit which was a great chance to see and read about loved ones and family members and the roles they played within the war. Thank you again to all who contributed and shared treasured items, photographs and personal stories. Thank you also to all who came and to our staff team for organising the event.
